Poker Stars Game Types

Poker Stars offers a wide range of Poker games; from the traditional Texas Holdem to the mixed game H.O.R.S.E and the newest addition, ZOOM poker. You will always find available tables full of players 24 hours a day. The games offered are:

Texas Hold'em

This is the most popular game at PokerStars, it can be played with or without limit and there are literally hundreds of tables to choose from. There are scheduled tournaments every week with cash prizes and the buy-in tournaments can go from $1 to one or two thousands. Poker Stars also offers no limit Texas Hold'em games with a cap limit set by the buy-in amount.

Omaha Poker

One of the player's favorites, Poker Stars offers Omaha and Hi/Lo games. Omaha can be played with a pot or cash limit only, the Hi/Lo versions can also be played with no limit like Texas Holdem. You will find new Omaha tournaments and Sit & Go's every month.

7 Card Stud

Poker Stars offers 7 Stud Hi/Lo games at their poker tables. They can be played with a cash limit only, it is not as popular as the games above but you still can join some tournaments every once in a while.

Razz

PokerStars offers limit Razz and tournaments. The fact that is not so famous doesn't mean you won't find players at the tables all the time. Even on the less advertised games like razz you will find tables full of players.

ZOOM Poker

It's a new game provided by PokerStars where players will be moved to a new table at the end of each hand. It offers Holdem and Omaha games and the gameplay is fast, you will be meeting new opponents after every hand with new strategies and skills.

H.O.R.S.E

HORSE is a combination of all the games above. It can be played with a fixed limit only. Each letter refers to a different Poker game, the game played changes from one type to the next one during a tournament. The word H.O.R.S.E stands for:

H = Texas Holdem
O = Omaha Hi/Lo - Eight or better
R = Razz
S = Seven Card Stud High
E = Seven Card stud Hi/Lo - Eight or better

Guaranteed Tournaments

There are Holdem, Omaha and Stud tournaments with up to $2 million in cash prizes. Every Sunday there is a $500,000 guaranteed tournament and the entry is only $200. They also feature the Poker Stars Online Poker Series with a $500 entry and up to $7 million cash prize.

Satellites

Satellites are small tournaments that you can join to win a seat on a big worldwide televised tournament. Many famous poker stars started at the PokerStars satellite tournaments, the buy-in is as low as $2 and there is a lot of competition, you can also use your Stars points to join in.

Freerolls

There are many Freerolls running at Poker Stars right now, this is special for players who are just starting and want to learn how to play poker online. The freerolls are tournaments you can join using the play money you get when you first sign up at PokerStars. Additionally, if you earn enough Stars points you will be able to join the monthly Freeroll tournament and have the chance to win the $50,000 cash prize.
